The 4th Mathematics Culture Festival Held

On May 7, the opening ceremony of the 4th Mathematics Culture Festival themed Blend Youth with Math Elegance, Embark on a New Journey with Wisdom was held in the lecture hall of the Academic Exchange Center at Xuefeng Campus.

Lyu Qiang, Vice President, relevant directors of the Student Affairs Department, College Youth League Committee, Science and Social Service Division, Academic Affairs Office and School of Humanities, all teachers of the Mathematics Teaching and Research Section, and student representatives from various secondary colleges attended the opening ceremony.

Lyu Qiang delivered the opening speech. He stated that mathematics serves as the language of science and the driving force of innovation, exerting a crucial influence in big data, artificial intelligence, information security, intelligent manufacturing and other fields. Vocational education should not only cultivate students' superb practical skills, but also foster their rational mathematical thinking. He hoped that teachers and students would take this culture festival as a platform to boost innovative thinking and practical abilities, and strive to grow into high-caliber skilled talents suited to the demands of the new era.

Afterwards, teachers from the School of Humanities gave a popular science lecture on mathematics. Centering on network information security, the speaker explained the role of large integer factorization in RSA encryption and illustrated the extensive application of matrices in cipher security, image processing and other fields. By citing competition questions of mathematical modeling contests, the lecture enabled students to recognize the value of mathematics and greatly aroused their enthusiasm for learning and applying mathematical knowledge.

Following the opening ceremony, the mathematics culture garden activities officially started. Divided into three major parts: fun games, competitive contests and topology displays, the activities attracted enthusiastic participation from teachers and students. Students experienced Sudoku challenges, one-stroke drawing games, math-themed undercover games and other interesting events. By visiting exhibits such as Möbius strips, Klein bottles and Morse code models, they had an intuitive experience of the fascinating applications of topological geometry and cryptographic mathematics. Besides, exhibition zones for mathematics culture corridors and math riddles were also arranged on site.

It is reported that this Mathematics Culture Festival adopted a popular science model that integrates mathematical theories with practical experiences. It not only helps improve students' mathematical literacy and innovative awareness, but also enriches campus culture.

Going forward, the college will steadily advance the development of mathematics culture, focus on cultivating students' rational thinking and practical application capabilities, and lay a solid foundation for nurturing more high-quality skilled talents, proficient craftsmen and top-tier national artisans.
